Continuing Care Communities
Approximately 1000 "long term care facilities" classify themselves variously as life care communities or continuing care retirement communities.
Campuses... These facilities amount to campuses which provide the continuum of care services: independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care.
Historical church relationship... The majority (perhaps 85%) have historically been church related not-for-profit organizations, but a number of excellent for-profit life care communities are being developed.
Hard to define industry segment... As with assisted living, no definition exists which suitably delineates a life care community. New types of contracts between residents and management/owners are constantly emerging.
